The different types of skin
Our skins are all different for various reasons. Let's learn more about the different types of skin!
The outermost layer is called the epidermis, it protects the skin thanks to the hydrolipidic protective film composed of water and lipids. This lipid in question is actually sebum.
In this layer, keratinocytes as well as ceramides are also present. Keratinocytes have a protective function, while ceramides play a structural and moisturizing role.
Just below, we find the melanocytes that absorb UV from the sun and give color to the skin.
The underlying layer is called the dermis. It contains fibroblasts that create collagen fibers, elastin, and chains of hyaluronic acid. These three proteins are responsible for the elasticity and firmness of the skin.
Dry skin
This skin type tends to be irritated and show redness. This is because it lacks sebum and/or ceramides, which causes a breach in the skin barrier and makes the skin permeable. This can be due to several factors such as heredity, skin maturity, certain diseases, side effects of medication (for acne, for example), hormones, but also external aggressions like photoaging, cold, dry air...
The small difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin is that dehydrated skin loses more water at the epidermis level than it receives at the dermis level. It is therefore also less elastic and feels tight, but this is a temporary issue that can be resolved with the same moisturizing treatments as dry skin.
How to treat my dry skin?
Dry skin is often dehydrated. It should be treated as such. To begin, gently hydrate it well. For that, we have what you need! The hyaluronic acid masks from Croma, made of 100% synthetic silk, are capable of deeply hydrating, refreshing the skin, and providing a radiant and luminous complexion, with the added bonus of a moment of relaxation and tranquility.
Furthermore, this type of sensitive skin also needs to be gently cleansed. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid tap water and instead use textures such as milk. It is also recommended to avoid rinsing and to remove excess milk with a mist.
The creams that can be recommended are those based on oil or ceramide. The same goes for serums, at Croma, such as the Croma Farewell – Irritated Skin, a gem for dry skin! A unique and delicate serum, highly moisturizing and antioxidant that will soothe your irritations, reduce your redness, and strengthen your skin barrier.
Normal skin
As its name suggests, it is the one that has no problems and is balanced. It is an ideal skin type that is neither too oily nor too dry. Makeup removal can be done with oils or micellar water and will be followed by cleansing.
Combination skin
Combination skin produces too much sebum on the T-zone and not enough on the cheeks. Therefore, it requires different treatment for these two areas, namely hydration for the dry areas (the cheeks) and a care product to balance sebum on the T-zone.
How to treat my combination skin?
She will need, for example, a clay mask on the T-zone and a nourishing treatment on the cheeks.
It will involve drawing from the appropriate care for dry skin, for example: the 2% hyaluronic acid from MCCM which will be applied only on the cheeks.
As for the T-zone, we will apply, for example, vitamin A, which is very effective for oily and/or acne-prone skin.
Oily skin
The major problem of oily skin is that it produces too much sebum, which leads to a blockage of the skin pores and consequently visible pimples, blackheads, and enlarged pores. Hyperseborrhea is often due to hormones, but also to external factors that can worsen acne such as:
- A diet that is too sugary and/or too rich in dairy products
- Stress
- The heat
- The alcohol
How to treat my oily skin?
Due to her excessive sebum production, she requires a specific treatment, namely products with a lightweight texture. However, it should not be forgotten to hydrate her skin, as this remains essential even for oily skin; moisturizing products must be chosen that are non-comedogenic.
Next, your selection will be made from products capable of eliminating excess sebum.
We can offer you a perfectly formulated serum aimed at unclogging your pores and reducing imperfections: Croma Farewell – Oily Skin as well as a very effective serum intended to be used in combination with a microneedling session: Stayve AC Stem Cell Gold.
Acne-prone skin also needs to be deeply cleansed and purified; in this regard, for makeup removal, prefer micellar water, and for cleansing to effectively unclog the pores, choose a product with glycolic acid or a purifying gel.
And for mature skin, then?
In mature skin, the production of collagen and elastin decreases, which can lead to skin dryness, a loss of elasticity and firmness, and will result in the appearance of wrinkles or fine lines.
The active ingredients to prioritize will be those with lifting and/or moisturizing properties, such as collagen, hyaluronic acid, DMAE, argireline, or elastin.
For example, the serum from Croma Farewell – Aging Skin contains hyaluronic acid; it is an excellent solution to be applied daily to reduce signs of aging and restore elasticity to the skin.
Furthermore, it also happens that with age, there is an alteration of melanocytes, which leads to pigmented spots as well as discolorations. As a preventive measure, it is advisable to apply antioxidants (such as vitamins A, C, or E) and sunscreen like Sun Cream 50+ from MCCM.
