Among the revitalizing and skin maintenance treatments, Mésolift is a must-have. This treatment allows for a quick boost in radiance, thanks to its strong moisturizing power.
Let's discover together everything you need to know about this aesthetic medicine technique: the expected results, who this treatment is for, the course of the session, etc.
What is Mésolift?
Mesolift, or facial mesotherapy, is a revitalization treatment. It consists of small injections of a nourishing and hydrating mixture based on hyaluronic acid, amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
This treatment helps to give or restore radiance to the skin by hydrating and nourishing it from within. The skin becomes more luminous, firm, and elastic.
The hyaluronic acid used in this treatment is non-crosslinked, meaning it does not have volumizing properties but has a strong hydrating power.
Expected results
The results generally appear after the first session, the skin becomes softer and more supple. To achieve more remarkable results, additional sessions will be necessary.
Little by little, the skin will regain its firmness and radiance thanks to the hydrating power of hyaluronic acid.
At the level of the hands, the skin becomes thinner, making the vessels less apparent. At the level of the décolletage, vertical wrinkles are diminished.
Who is the mesolift aimed at?
The mesolift can be addressed to everyone. It is suitable for young women to prevent the appearance of the first wrinkles, as well as for mature-skinned women showing a dehydrated and 'wrinkled' appearance.
Targeted areas
These are the areas where the skin is most exposed to sunlight (UV) and therefore ages more quickly.
This treatment can be performed on:
- The entire face (the most commonly treated area);
- The neck;
- The neckline;
- The back of the hands.
Course of the mesolift session
This treatment is performed in a clinic by a plastic surgeon, a dermatologist, or an aesthetic physician.
A mesolift protocol is always preceded by an initial consultation. This consultation aims to highlight the existence or absence of contraindications to the treatment.
On the day of the treatment, the patient's entire face is cleansed of makeup and then disinfected.
The practitioner injects small doses of suitable products into the dermis.
There are two techniques for performing injections:
Technique 1: Multi-injections (Topping), involves injecting very small amounts of the product in a very superficial manner. These injections will allow for an even coverage of the entire area. This technique is indicated for young skin and areas of delicate skin such as the forehead and hands.
Technique 2: Micro-papules, involves injecting the product with a needle positioned at an angle of 30 to 45° and inserted to a depth of 2 mm (deep layer of the dermis). The interval between injections is: 1.5 mm. This technique results in the appearance of slight bumps on the surface of the skin that disappear within 24 to 48 hours. This method is mainly reserved for mature skin, but also for wrinkled and dehydrated skin.
Injections can be performed manually using small needles, or with an injector gun.
Does it hurt?
The treatment is not completely painless. The beautician often applies an anesthetic cream one and a half hours before the procedure. The local anesthetic makes the treatment almost painless.
Rhythm of the sessions
This treatment will require several sessions. Ideally, 3 sessions are necessary, spaced two to three weeks apart.
At home, it will be necessary to continue taking care of the skin by using suitable cosmetics in order to prolong the effects over time. The recommended cosmetics should be based on hyaluronic acid and/or vitamin C, for example, the Intense Hydrating Cream from STYLAGE or the Cellular Regenerating Serum from the same brand.
Contraindications
The contraindications are the usual ones for injections, namely:
- Coagulation disorders;
- Allergies to components;
- Autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, or insulin-dependent diabetes);
- Eczema and ongoing skin infections.
Side effects
After a Mesolift session, redness is often present. It may persist for up to 24 hours in rare cases. Small bruises may also appear in some patients with sensitive skin.
Mésolift / Botox / Hyaluronic acid: what is the difference?
The mesolift nourishes and hydrates the skin while Botox treats wrinkles by relaxing the muscles, and hyaluronic acid is injected into the wrinkles to fill them.
Notice from the French Association of Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Medicine (AFME)
“This method primarily uses natural products. It is light and gives a nice glow to the skin. However, it does not remove wrinkles like filler injections do. Mesolift tones the skin. It provides an interesting result for fine, atonic, dry, tired, or damaged skin (from sun exposure, tobacco, etc.) that cannot be achieved with filler injections.”
