Hyperpigmentation
Hyperpigmentation refers to the condition of having an uneven skin tone or having spots.
There are two types of hyperpigmentation:
- Excess melanin: melasma.
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation: a reaction to a pimple, a scar... the skin darkens in certain areas.
In short, melanin pigments are created inside melanocytes in the melanosomes and transported to the surface by keratinocytes.
There may be variations in pigments or defects in quality or quantity.
All of this works differently depending on the phototypes.
The causes
Tasks may have different reasons:
- The sun, photo-aging
- Hormonal factors (pregnancy, contraception)
- Nutrition
- Genetics
The active ingredients
- Ascorbic acid: this is the acid of vitamin C, with properties that are not only antioxidant but also anti-spot and brightening, making it a powerful ally in the fight against hyperpigmentation in serum form as well as in dietary supplements! You can find a vitamin C serum at MCCM!
- Azelaic acid: it is capable of reducing the number of keratinocytes when they reproduce too quickly, it is very effective against rosacea and pigmentation spots, the peeling from Simildiet will surely delight you!
- Glutathione: another effective antioxidant and detoxifier, it complements ascorbic acid as it allows vitamin C to be better absorbed. It is recommended as a supplement from a certain age and in serum form, the one from MCCM will be perfect!
All these assets will certainly be effective, but one must arm oneself with patience as removing pigmentation spots takes time! And, of course, if your skin tends to develop spots, it is essential to apply sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB!
